A good bit of the STL metro sits on the IL side of the state line and ahead of Chris traveling to Chicago and me venturing westwardly, we took the opportunity to play a second round while I was in town and check another state off the list. Introducing…Gateway National.
Links style course, teed off of the 10th and right away I knew this wasn’t going to be my round. Another blustery day, tons of wind and I wasn’t hitting the ball well. 5 doubles, 4 bogeys, zero good holes and I found the turn at a 49 for a score.

Found a way to put it together on the back (first) 9, with Chris and I going -3 for the last 2 holes. 39 made up for some struggles but the score still was high. I think Chris beat me by 4-5 strokes. Nice course, probably a shade overpriced for a Tue round. Close to the racetrack, there’s a bit of fun to the course, but a good amount of the holes feel a bit rinse and repeat.
Got done in the mid-afternoon and headed west on I-70. Just shy of Columbia, I witnessed a 2 car accident, was able to give some support and fortunately, no one was injured. I took a few client calls after, got some groceries and made it to Bauer’s house in KC, KS around 9:45 PM for a couple of bourbons and bed.
