I’ve spent a good amount of time in Kentucky. Genuinely like the area, first started when I came to the Derby way back in the day. I’ll never forget 2009 and Mine That Bird being the 2nd long shot and winning the race. Since then, I’ve had at least a dozen visits to the area and really like the vibe.
Started my day at Brevede Coffee in the Distillery District to get some work done. Got a good amount of client maintenance completed, enjoyed a nice latte and peered outside to a gloomy, windy start to the day. Had a client call that moved so I was free to really get some data work done which was really nice. Now, this area has some great spots, regret that Dark Arts was not open. But there’s a great pizza place at the end of the area. Some taverns, across the street is Burl which I’d recommend and the area is anchored by James E. Pepper Distillery. Worth checking out if you’re in town.

As I was looking for things to explore, I realized a lot of the town I’ve already experienced. I left the District a little after 11 AM as the sun was starting to show. Stopped by Ernie’s Spirits (forgot that I had been there previously, the funky parking lot is quirky), then grabbed some groceries and gas before a lunchtime workout.
Afternoon I was able to get more work done from the area called Summit at Fritz Farm. It’s a mixed use area with restaurants, shopping and a Whole Foods. Worked from the van, then walked around a bit and did a little retail therapy before taking one final client call. Dinner inside the Whole Foods, then off to an area I want to explore tomorrow called Southland. Some reading in the evening and a good night’s sleep ahead on a colder evening.
