Dreary, but decent

Nashville started off the day on a dreary note. A little bit of spitting rain, but nothing obnoxious. Back to work today, which, I’ll give a broader update on that when I can. I’m still employed at HOPE, there is some pending questions out there related to my location, for now, I’m still earning a paycheck.

Left for a really great venue just north of I-40, really close to the Cumberland River, called Frothy Monkey Roasting Co. Huge spot, located in an industrial area but seats 60 I’d guess. There’s a bit of a rebuild in some areas here, looks like the neighborhood is called The Nations.

Popular spot to hang out, work here just north of Sylvan Park

Took Charlotte Ave east to check out a new part of the city. Landed in Bellevue Place, mixed use commercial spot. Drive there was mostly industrial but there was a few spots where nature crept in.

I was going to try the Harpeth River Greenway but the parking area has been converted to a brush dump site where they process branches. Instead, I hit the gym and found my way to another coffee spot - The Well Coffeehouse. Got a good bit of admin work done, called some clients to schedule sessions. Overall, productive afternoon.

Given the first greenway was a miss, I went to try and walk the Mossy Ridge Trail. Gotta love when GPS takes you to a closed service road, so I kept driving and found myself at the broader Warner Park.

Tons of trails…or so I thought

Immediately, you could tell there’s two things available…lots of places to walk and lots of debris. Most of the trails were roped off, ran into a few park workers who were assessing some tree damage. I had to look it up, was just a little over a month ago in late Jan 2026 when the city had almost 2 inches of precipitation, most of which was freezing rain.

This is just an example of the debris

I got about a mile in walking before I decided to call it. You can tell this area is great for trail hiking, biking and running. But it’ll take months to clear the brush and even longer to try and create a fully safe area throughout. Still, definitely see what makes this area wonderful to explore. Ended up deciding not to hurry back to city, relaxed in the van with some device time plus reading. It’s a good reminder for me that there’s nothing to rush back to, being in an environment that I enjoy can always take precedent.

Kept up the vibe so far of staying in hotel parking lots, so I’m nestled in Bellevue, TN. Tomorrow I’m going to venture further south, get to know Franklin, TN a bit more. I think I’ve been there before, but I’ll validate that for sure. For now, time to catch up on the only show I really watch and call it a night.

Live from the van, it’s Saturday Night
