I wondered what back to back days of golfing was going to look like. I knew I was going to get a cart and not walk, thankfully, after experiencing the course, I was correct in the need. The drive to the resort was uneventful, sans some construction. After filling up with gas, I made it to the Glade Springs Resort and found the clubhouse. Felt like going back in time a bit, the building was older and you could tell the freshness of the facility had long since left.
I had a lot of time, so I went back to the van, talked with Scott for a bit and got an email out on a document that needed feedback. Good thing I did as I started to get a bout of light flashes in my eyes. Hasn’t resulted in a migraine in a while and fortunately, that trend continued as I was spared from a headache.

A few putts, some chips and a few hits on the range and away I went. Once again, I was a single and asked the starter if I could be paired up. No avail. It was a bit of a wet course, not quite sure why, but it was a theme for sure. Being a single makes it feel like the longest round but in reality, the group in front of me was doing a great job. And the single behind me never engaged, so I spent the day alone with my golf vices.

Stonehaven’s signature hole has to be 16. The drive down to the tee box was awesome to see the hole at elevation. It’s a fairly pedestrian hole overall, but the views made this $53 round more than worth it.

Had another great round going, needed to par the 18th to break 80. Alas, a horrible tee shot and subsequent misfortune had me card my only double of the day for an 81. Still another great round and I’m starting to feel good about striking the ball. Got to chat with a few people on the drive north, including confirming some late May MLB roadtripping to CO with childhood best, Kasey.

Found my way to Charleston, WV, where I grabbed dinner and some beers at Fife Street Brewing. Chatted with bartender Jacob, watched Charlotte FC and caught up on the blogging/posting needs. Going to stay in the area for part of the day tomorrow, check out the city before moving west.
