In my head, today was day 1. I had made it back to the Charlotte area about a week ago and was easing into the transition. Had some great chats with a few different family members and friends over the last week. Worked of course, shopped for some items for the van (linens, tech, a golf club push cart) and even got a few maintenance things done for the vehicle. We’ve removed the ice from the roads after last weekend and hey, it’s a great week for…what the heck? Snow in the forecast for the weekend?
I did take some things to the van today through the slop. Made the bed, brought in some clothes, organized some of the cabinets the way I want them to be. And then did a lot of packing, cleaning and even put together my new golf caddie. The instructions were visibly horrible, though.
It’s weird, but I’ll be homeless tomorrow. I’ll use a friend’s address, but who really gets mail anymore? I will need to figure out how to receive packages and such, but beyond that I’m going to be without a physical address. I’m excited, nervous and everywhere in between all at once.
Flash forward to Saturday and Charlotte gets a top 5 ALL TIME snow storm. 11 inches. Relentless, all day. It was the perfect snow though. Powder. Nothing to it. Just a blustery, windy day of nonstop flakes. Needless to say, that pushed my entry into the van today back a bit. The water in the van is frozen, so I’ve got to wait for that to thaw out. And of course, just sloshing through it.
Today was vastly the meltdown, I did spend some time cleaning both vehicles though. As a proper midwesterner, I knew to knock the snow off and let the sun do the rest.

Some groceries, gas, pretty pedestrian day. I did enjoy some time catching up with Matt and Leslie though. Definitely a productive day. Tomorrow looks like a doozy of a day, tasks a plenty and I officially exit my residence for the van life.

The next few weeks I’ll be staying in the Charlotte area. I’ll fill you in on more as the time advances.
